In the event of a child / vulnerable adult becoming lost and this being reported to K4 Medical Services staff, they will immediately put into place the procedures detailed below. These ensure that a systematic approach to find the child / vulnerable adult is taken and consideration is given to the levels of risk to the child / vulnerable adult.

Aim #

K4 Medical Services will ensure a search is made for the child / vulnerable adult as soon as possible, parents and authorities are notified at the appropriate stage, and a high level of care is maintained to other children at the event while procedures are followed.

Should a child / vulnerable adult present themselves to the K4 Medical Services Medical Centre or to any K4 Medical Services staff, they shall be escorted back to the K4 Medical Services Medical Centre and be stationed there until family/ guardians support is presented.

Procedures #

If a child / vulnerable adult goes missing during an event: In all cases the on site security must be notified

  • Available K4 Medical Services staff will work alongside event organisers to carry out a thorough search of all the event premises.
  • Suitable K4 Medical Services staff will be fully focused on their primary role of offering medical support while the remaining staff will search for the missing child / vulnerable adult. Organisers liaise with parents/ guardians and escort to K4 Medical Services Medical Centre.
  • Event organisers/ available K4 Medical Services staff will try and establish who was last to see the missing child, when and where.
  • Doors and gates are checked to see if there has been a breach of security whereby a child / vulnerable adult could wander out.
  • K4 Medical Services and event organisers liaise privately to establish what happened and agree plan of action.
  • If the child / vulnerable adult is not found the parent or carer is contacted (alarming them as little as possible) and the missing child is reported to the police.
  • If the child / vulnerable adult lives within walking distance of the event, a family member/ guardian and either a member of K4 Medical Services staff or the organising team should make the journey on foot in order to catch up with the child if possible.

When the child is found: In all cases the security must be notified

  • Two members of K4 Medical Services staff/ organising team will care for and talk with the child, bearing in mind that he/she may be unaware of having done anything wrong or, alternatively, may also have been afraid and distressed and may now be in need of comfort. Child / vulnerable adult will be returned to family/ guardians safely.
